Financial Planning And Retirement Planning Essay - 1526 Words

Financial planning and retirement planning will not be the same as it was for the previous generations of retirees. As people continue to live longer, they will need to save more money to adequately prepare for a retirement period that may last just as long as their working career. In addition to a longer life expectancy, retirees will also have to deal with the possibility of taking care of their aging parents as well as adult children who may need to move back home for an extended stay. Considering these potential outcomes and obstacles, baby boomers should have a sense of urgency when it comes to saving for retirement. Yet, the question is often asked, why aren’t consumers saving more for retirement? One potential answer to this phenomenon is that consumers are in too much debt to save. Individuals are shaped by their environment and the historical era or period in which they were associated (Houle, 2014). Today’s pre-retirees were the first generation to come of age in a historical period where debt was readily accessible and acceptable. In addition to the previous obstacles mentioned, challenges such as consumer and credit card debt, mortgages, 401(k) loans, medical debt, and even student loans hinder pre-retirees from saving for their own retirement. A review of the literature revealed a significant amount of research on the various types of debt pre-retirees are currently servicing. However, few empirical studies focused on the extent to which servicing various typesShow MoreRelatedPersonal Financial Planning : Retirement Planning Essay914 Words   |  4 PagesPersonal Financial Planning - Retirement Planning By Aaron Lau | Submitted On February 19, 2010 Recommend Article Article Comments Print Article Share this article on Facebook Share this article on Twitter Share this article on Google+ Share this article on Linkedin Share this article on StumbleUpon Share this article on Delicious Share this article on Digg Share this article on Reddit Share this article on Pinterest Advances in medical science have resulted in people living longer. Social Class in the United States Essay - 1673 Words

There is much debate about the issue of social class in the United States. There are arguments about whether social classes are distinctly separate or fluid, dependent upon one’s community or society as a whole, and if they are subjective or objective (Hughes and Jenkins). However, despite the debate surrounding social classes, it is still important to try to define them and analyze their effects, as they are such an important part of our identity and our opportunities in society. Although our society has tried to appear as though we have no classes, and it is becoming harder to tell what class someone is in by material goods, classes do still exist today (Scott and Leonhardt). The trend has been to divide the U.S. into four major†¦show more content†¦Despite the debates about social class, the United States is usually described as having four major social classes, the elite or upperclass, the middle class, the working class, and the lower class (Goldscmidt). Cla sses are generally differentiated by income, education, and occupation although other factors do have an effect. The upperclass consists of about 1% of the population making 750,000 dollars or more a year as investors, top executives, or heirs to large fortunes (Hughes and Jenkins). There tends to be no question about who is in the upperclass as they are pretty clearly isolated in their power and wealth. The middle class makes up about 40% of the population making anywhere from 40,000 to 749,999 dollars a year (Hughes and Jenkins). The large disparity in income and wealth have led to a further division of this class into upper-middle class and middle class in some circles. The middle class usually work white collar jobs as professionals and managers, however some highly skilled blue collar workers are included. Those in the middle class have usually obtained higher education degrees and place a high value on individual responsibility for one’s class (Goldschmidt). The working class is composed of about 50% of the population earning 13,000 to 39,000 dollars a year (Hughes and Jenkins). Some also divide this class into a working class and aShow MoreRelatedSocial Class Of The United States1103 Words   |  5 Pagesname and occupation. Analysis Of The Poem O Captain My Captain By Walt Whitman

What a beautiful portrayal of our great nation and some of the many amazing things we have overcome to get to where we now are today. To begin analyzing this poem we must first look at the context of when the poem was written. This poem, â€Å"O Captain, My Captain† was written by Walt Whitman in 1865 after the assassination of Abraham Lincoln. This death of the beloved president left the entire country devastated. Walt Whitman was a very strong admirer of Abraham Lincoln and often saw him as a fatherly figure in his life. Whitman writes many times in his poem yelling â€Å"father† (Whitman 13). Whitman truly believed that Lincoln had kept this country together, even though there was such hatred between the North and the South. He had accomplished the task of keeping together the union and freeing the slaves from the hands of their masters. Walt Whitman painted us a picture of how our nation became free of slavery due to our wonderful captain. The poem displays this pic ture by using an extended metaphor that is talking about Abraham Lincoln and the abolishing of slavery through the Civil War. The metaphor begins with the speaker of the poem was a sailor who had just sailed a very long and dangerous trip and witnessed the death of his beloved captain. As Whitman begins to write the poem he displays his emotions through the sailor on this ship. At the start of the poem the sailor cries â€Å"O Captain! Review of Taming Of the Shrew Essay Example For Students

Review of Taming Of the Shrew Essay I watched an abridged version of this play on Monday, 13 October 2008 in the drama hall of my school Kidbrooke School. It was written by William Shakespeare, directed by Miss Hagan and performed by the Drama Club.  The play was about a father, who has two daughters Katherine, the elder one and Bianca. Many men fancy Bianca, however she cannot be wed as the father Baptista Minola decides that Katherine the eldest should marry first, if she has not been taken as a wife no one could marry Bianca. Many men in the city of Padua disagree with the decision as the all are in love with Bianca and in fear of Katherine and therefore try to make deals with Baptista, who stays firm to his conditions. A member of the community has a not very noble friend outside the city that he calls in order to marry Katherine, the shrew. As he introduces his companion to Baptista and explains their reason for being at his house; Petruchio is then given the permission to marry Katherine, who does not agree with this as her father tells her the good news. Thereafter the wedding followed an Katherine moved to her new husband who immediately starts taming her as he sees her bad behaviour; his ways of taming included starving and psychological conversations, that enforce her to believe whatever he says. Meanwhile at home the younger sister Bianca is an affair with a man who disguised himself as a tutor and is in love with Bianca. Lutencio then weds Bianca secretly but Baptista catches them red-handed; therefore it was time for Lutencio to explain to him who he was and what he feels for his new wife. Later on a feast is arranged and the whole family is invited, and so are their friends. As the men introduce themselves and talk about present day issues their wives go out to have some time with each other away from their husbands. During their conversation the men wonder how it was possible to tame Katherine and want to find out whose wife is most obedient; each man called his wife to come to him but only Katherine replied and came to her husband. This amazes everyone and Petruchio asks her to bring in the before called wives to their husbands and to explain how a woman should treat her husband. In the play the issue of a role of a woman is explored and how her attitude towards her husband should be. It shows what was expected what women should be like, meaning that they did not have their own opinion but had to agree with whatever is wanted by their husbands. In the end speech of Katherine ways of behaviour towards a husband are even more highlighted, because she narrates values he herself did not believe in; such as treating your husband like a king and being lucky to have him to take care of you. This play is performed using Shakespearean language, which seems not very understandable at the beginning but as the audience follows the actions the language can be comprehended. Moreover does the play include various explorative strategies which make the easier to understand for the spectators; marking the moment, still images and many more where used.  The set was kept simple as the stage was of medium small size and props such as tables were used to let the audience imagine what exactly was happening on stage. Through the fact that the set was kept simple the audience has to use its creativity to image what the place could look like; therefore everyone is able to interpret the play in his or her personal way. .u3980b156bde9df4f555cdd98564314c8 , .u3980b156bde9df4f555cdd98564314c8 .postImageUrl , .u3980b156bde9df4f555cdd98564314c8 .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .u3980b156bde9df4f555cdd98564314c8 , .u3980b156bde9df4f555cdd98564314c8:hover , .u3980b156bde9df4f555cdd98564314c8:visited , .u3980b156bde9df4f555cdd98564314c8:active { border:0!important; } .u3980b156bde9df4f555cdd98564314c8 .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .u3980b156bde9df4f555cdd98564314c8 { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .u3980b156bde9df4f555cdd98564314c8:active , .u3980b156bde9df4f555cdd98564314c8:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .u3980b156bde9df4f555cdd98564314c8 .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .u3980b156bde9df4f555cdd98564314c8 .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .u3980b156bde9df4f555cdd98564314c8 .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .u3980b156bde9df4f555cdd98564314c8 .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .u3980b156bde9df4f555cdd98564314c8:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .u3980b156bde9df4f555cdd98564314c8 .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .u3980b156bde9df4f555cdd98564314c8 .u3980b156bde9df4f555cdd98564314c8-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .u3980b156bde9df4f555cdd98564314c8:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: Short Story - A Devastating Afternoon EssayDuring the performance lights where used to highlight the mood the characters where in, this means different light, different mood. The lights had a great impact on the audience as they make the performance look more alive. Especially different coloured lights (red light was used as Katherine and Petruchio have an argument) and spot lights as they make it easier for the audience to comprehend what is happening on stage. Sound was used to help the audience image in what time period the story happens; Greek music was introduced the play showing what a lively place the city Padua was. Also as Katherine and Petruchio had an argument, music was played in the background to give the audience a feeling of what is happening; the music has tremendous impact because the audience therefore feels that this is not just a play but real, it makes them feel part of the happenings on the stage. All actors wore black tops and trousers; this shows the audience that they all are part of the same. However, costumes were also used o enhance the audiences imagination of what time the play is set. Only some of the characters had to put on additional costumes over their black so that the audience is able to visualise the importance of some characters.  In my opinion I can say that this play is worth watching because of the message is gives out. Also because it is short so everyone including people who are newcomers to the theatre can watch it. I like this version of the play, for the reason that even though Shakespearean language is used I am able to understand it.

While evaluating the current strategy of VTB it has been pointed out that, the organization has faced numerous challenges. Services providers are unable to communicate with the clients properly due to language barrier (Teller, Kotzab and Grant 2012). VTB has become very much dependent on government. Most of the private organizations have showed their reluctances in receiving financial services from VTB due to poor services from the employees. After identifying risk factors, some of the most effective development strategy has been implemented within the business process of VTB. The development strategy includes: Development of product for satisfying customers: VTB has decided to render product development in order to expand their business in different multinational countries. Investment banking and wholesale banking was the core product with which VTB generally dealt (Levenson 2015). However, the business experts have decided to bring general insurance, health insurances, life banking and retail banking in quest of increasing the rate of target customers. After the initiative of retail banking, large number of private sectors would like to show their interest in receiving the services of VTB. Based on this professional gesture customers of various cultural and psychological backgrounds and attitudes would get equal respect and priority. Proper structure of the organization: VTB while developing the strategies should focus on maintaining proper organizational structure and hierarchy. Function, products and services, Market segmentation and matrix are the four major components based on which VTB should improve their internal structure. Function is the primary hierarchy that VTB tends to follow. The primary function of this specific organization is to provide clear instruction to the manager in order to control the entire process of business (Ivanov and Sokolov 2013). In order to gain organizational image and reputation business experts have to focus on maintaining quality of products and services. VTB primarily deals with Investment banking and wholesale banking. However, the product managers of this organization has decided to implement general insurance, health insurances, life banking and retail banking for increasing more customers within the service process. Designs and systems of organizations aligned with the strategies Every business organization has to follow a proper design and system that can be aligned with their strategies and policies. The elements, which are sorted out for designing the system, are as follows: Organizational process: In quest of maintaining business sustainability, the organization follows a proper process regulations and acts. The regulations that VTB has implemented within the business process include health and safety act, right to information act, data protection act, anti-discrimination act and so on. On the other hand, VTB is very much flexible in providing equal priority and response to every single customer (Unger, Gemnden and Aubry 2012). In addition, employees after facing any kind of health issue at the workplace can get a proper assistance from the business experts. Interface management: Interface management primarily signifies the overall hierarchy that a specific business organization maintains in order to control the overall process of business. Operation manager plays the primary role within the work floor of VTB. Large number of assistant managers works in several departments under operation manager (Castronovo and Huang 2012). Managers tend to direct the team leaders in performing well so that employees working under that team leader get the motivation of effective performances. Capacity of the organization: In order to maintain proper organizational hierarchy business experts should have sufficient financial resources. As a result, the organization would be able to improve their performances. After evaluating the entire organizational capacity, it is critically analyzed that VTB is not sufficient in providing effective training and development session to the employees due to economic constraints (Men and Scheef 2014). Employees do not get much exposure in improving their professional skill and company. However, in order to render development strategy the organization needs to focus on employee performance evaluation so that customers can get better services. Management style: Democratic management style is the way of success that VTB tends to believe for expanding their business. VTB with the help of democratic form of leadership style never intends to impose own decision on the employees. Employees have the right to express their point of regarding the success of business (Castronovo and Huang 2012). As a result, the employer and employees can maintain an effective rapport with each other on the work floor. After following this particular management style, the business managers have identified the areas of both success and failure. The positive and negative impact has been pointed out below: Positive effects: Employee engagement Effective delivery of services Effective strategic plan to render the success of business Collective decision making Transparency within the services Negative effects: Misuse the flexile work environment Incoherence on the work Ineffective delivery of services Biasness towards evaluating the level of performances Evaluation of good and weak practices: After analyzing the entire organizational structure along with the management policy, it can be evaluated that VTB likes to follow democratic form of management style while regulating the entire process of business. Democratic form of leadership style implies that employees and employees are flexible in making organizational policies with the help of collective decision-making (Ivanov and Sokolov 2013). In this kind of situation, employees do not have to focus enough difficulties in providing their good services to the customers. On the other hand, it has also been observed that extreme level of employee engagement is hampering the workflow of VTB. The employees are from different geographical backgrounds and attitudes. As a result, business managers have faced innumerable challenges in receiving effective decision from the employees. Recommendations: After evaluating the entire strategic execution plan of VTB some of the major recommendations can be provided: Managers should focus on developing the professional skills of employees. After the business expansion of VTB in Germany and Austria, business experts have faced immense difficulties in fulfilling the needs and demands of the customers due to communication gap and psychological barrier (Villeneuve and Bennett 2012). However, it can be recommend that the human resource managers should provide an effective training and career development session to the employees based on which the employees can improve their performances. Democratic form of management style is not suitable for VTB in any circumstance. This particular organization being one of the most recognizable financial service providers of Russia should follow transformational form of management style (Levenson 2015). In order to overcome any kind of sudden crisis the managers should implement autocratic decision on the business process. As a result, they would be able to overcome the crisis as soon as possible. Involving the employees for gathering their point of view may not be effective at that time for resolving the issue properly for VTB. Reference List: Cadez, S. and Guilding, C., 2012. Shakespeare, William The Taming Of The Shrew Battle Of The Sexes Essa

Shakespeare, William: The Taming of the Shrew Battle of the Sexes In the play The Taming of the Shrew by William Shakespeare, Petrucio recognizes, respects and desires Katherine's strength of character. Petrucio is a clever man who sees beyond facades because he uses them in addition to a lot of irony himself. (II, i 46) (II, I 283 - 89) He is stimualted by Katherines sharp tongue and harsh actions. He proves this in many ways throughout the play. Petrucio is not in desperate need of money, but comes to Padua to find a rich wife. He says ?To wive and thrive as best I may,? when he is telling Hortensio why he came to Padua. He means that he has come to find a wife and get richer. From Petrucios response to his friend Hortensio (I,ii 64 - 75), it might be said that Petrucio came to Padua to make himself richer by marriage no matter how wretched the woman. I don't believe this is true. He also tells Hortensio that his father has died and that he is out in the world to gain experiences he cannot at home, and to find a wife secondary. (I,ii 49 - 57) Petrucio enjoys verbal sport and a non-conventional sense of humor. Petrucio surrounds himself with neither tame nor conforming people. You can even see this in his servants. His servants like him very much and enjoy his entertainments. An example of this is when Petrucio and his servant man Grumio get into a disagreement about knocking on the gate. Reflective of this is Petrucio's methods to ?woo? Katherine. His methods are game like and outrageous. Such as when he beats up Grumio because Kate's horse stumbles, or showing up late to the wedding. While showing Katherine how ridiculous she is about things, he is also making her feel special, which is something she never felt in life. He also says that ?This is the way to kill a wife with kindness.? (IV,i 211) This is his courting method of when he makes the wife feel to good for everything surrounding her. When they eat dinner once he complains ?Endanger choler planteth anger?. since of ourselves are choleric?. (IV, I 177) While Petrucio may not agree with what society has determined to be proper, he is aware of the importance to conform. He knows the ways of society and that he must demonstrate this to Katherine, who has no regard for public presentation. Petrucio is totally taken by Katherine's personality as Bianca's beauty and coyness takes the other suitors. It is in Hortensio's description of Katherine that Petrucio is captured. He describes her as wealthy, young, beautiful, properly brought up, intolerably curst, shrewd and forward. (I, ii 85 - 89) Though Hortensio finds his description of Katherine repulsive, Lucentio finds it intriguing and is he himself possess some of these qualities and is proud of it. The fact that these qualities are considered negative in Kate, but not in Petrucio is a reflection of the societal standards of the 1500's. Petrucio claims that she could be ?As foul as Florentious love? (I, ii 69) It seems that he is turned on by the challenge. Although no one believed that Petrucio would be able to stand Katherine, he says that he must have her as a wife, and that he was born to tame her. Gremio asks ?Who will undertake to woo curst Katherine?have you told them of her faults (I,ii 184 - 187) When Katherine is told of the wedding arrangements she says ?I'll see thee hang'd on Sunday first.? (II, I 301) This, or the slap he reaches later does not seem to discourage the strong willed Petrucio at all. It does not appear that Petrucio does not want to conquer or truly tame Kate. He is a man who is very confident in himself and does not need someone to boost his ego. He also seems like he would be disappointed if she were tamed to easily, because he seems to enjoy the challenge. Petrucio seems to love challenges and constantly surrounds himself with challenging people. It seems his perfect match would be a woman who could produce a challenge and sharpen
